Hi, I’m Kanisha! My passion for improving maternal health outcomes bloomed at Syracuse University, where my volunteer work connected me to teen mothers-to-be who lacked information and guidance about pregnancy and birth. Shortly after, I worked as a homebirth doula in Houston, Tx helping parents safely transition to parenthood and gently welcoming babies earthside.

I’ve since transferred to a nursing role and worked as a Labor and Delivery RN and Postpartum RN in some of the best hospitals for maternity in the country. Working in the hospital with physicians and home births with midwives provides me with a unique skillset of

• combining clinical and culturally traditional methods for mom and baby

• meeting high-quality breastfeeding goals while monitoring for breast condition and avoiding damage

• Translating hospital interventions, policies and material for well-informed decision making to adhere to desired birth preferences

• access to a network of vetted professionals from prenatal chiropractors to pelvic floor PT

Ultimately, based on my experience I am able to individualize education, advocate and negotiate well for my client’s needs.

I firmly believe all mothers deserve access to an informed, empowered, low-stress childbirth experience regardless of age, income, or circumstance. I can’t wait to serve you !
